Last night was the final straw with my "blender". I use quotations because that thing I've been using to blend really isn't doing it's job as well as it should be. I've been contemplating a Vita-Mix for a few weeks now. These things are AMAZING and I have been drooling over the website almost every day!!! You can actually cook soup from raw ingredients in 5 minutes! You can make ice cream! Smoothies! Nut butter! IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES!!! But they also come with a hefty price tag and that has been the one thing stopping me from making the purchase...
This morning I saw that the lovely Brilynn over at Jumbo Empanadas is giving one away!! Yes, she is giving away a Vita-mix after singing its praises on her blog. Wish me luck!!

HOLY SMOKES! Those are expensive! In all fariness, if it works as well as it claims to, looks like it can blend anything!
It's an AMAZING tool, Ash. Even if you end up having to pay for one, it will be a tool you use every single day. I looooove mine. I use it for all sorts of uses. I actually use it for everyday cooking way more than making smoothies or anything I thought I'd do with it. I have all of the blender containers for it (dry, liquid & small). I'm allergic to most nuts, but homemade soynut butter & peanut butter made in the vitamix is fabulous. We make those often. You can even make soup in it. And grind your own flour (with the dry container). Regular blenders are simply not the same. Not at all. Before the vitamix, I had various Wal-Mart grade blenders (broke them or gave up on them when they didn't do what I needed them to). I went from those to a Kitchen Aid food processor....and eventually to a commercial "Margarita Madness" blender sold at restaurant supply stores. The vitamix beats the pants off those others. You will be amazed!
