I've been on a real smoothie kick for breakfast. They're great because they are portable. I usually throw one in a to-go mug as I'm heading out the door and enjoy it on the subway/streetcar. Here are some of my favourite combinations:
Chocolate - Strawberry
1 Weight Watchers smoothie mix (chocolate or vanilla), 1/2 cup frozen strawberries, 1 cup light soy milk, 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
Banana - Peanut Butter
1/2 scoop protein powder or 1 WW smoothie mix (vanilla, chocolate or vanilla chai), 1 banana, 1 cup light soy milk, 1 tbsp peanut butter or almond butter
Banana - Strawberry - OJ
1/2 scoop protein powder or 1 WW smoothie mix (vanilla), 1 cup orange juice, 1 banana, 1/2 c. strawberries
I also usually include some Glutamine powder in my smoothies as my naturopath has recommended it to me to help my tummy.
I really enjoy the WW smoothie mixes which unfortunately are not available in Canada. I stock up whenever I go to the US. I'll be going again before the end of the month and I'm excited!! The possibilities with smoothies are ENDLESS and your morning recipe can really be dictated by what you have on hand.
Monday - Pork chops with brussel sprouts & quinoa
Wednesday - Moroccan Lentil Soup
Friday - Dining out
Saturday - leftovers & dining out (this is the insane day...)
